Dating from the late 17th century, this chest is very unusual in that it is veneered in highly figured yew rather than walnut. It has a top that is quarter veneered with a broad yew banding and both the drawer fronts and sides are again banded in figured yew. It has an unusual central top drawer and the colour throughout is superb. Without question this is an exceptional and rare example of a William & Mary period chest and has been purchased from a private collection.
