A pair of William & Mary style tapestry and silver gilt mirrors. These mirrors have a carved gesso and silver gilt crest above a shaped tapestry frame that is also decorated with carved and silver gilt mouldings. Retaining the original inset mirror plates these mirrors have great style and are of very good quality. This type of mirror, in the late 17th century style, was made by a single London maker at the end of the 19th century and it is very unusual to find a pair, especially when they have both remained in such original condition and with the needlework keeping its original colours.

“It is very unusual to find a pair of tapestry mirrors and even more so when like these examples, they have kept their original gesso carved silver gilt decoration and the colour and condition of the needlework is so good."
