Made from Cuban mahogany, these chairs are known as Uxbridge Library Reading Chairs as a similar designed chair was supplied by Gillow to Henry Bayly, Ist Earl of Uxbridge in 1807. They are of a good scale and colour. They have tufted silk squab cushions and are very comfortable to sit in.
