A Pair Of George II Red Walnut Side Chairs, Possibly IRISH

£2,150.00

$2,718

Circa: 1725

Period: 18th century

Location: Hungerford

Made from red walnut, the chairs with pierced and shaped backs, drop in seats and cabriole legs with shell carved decoration and shaped feet. The chairs are in untouched country house condition and of good scale. From the design of the foot and flattened shell decoration to the knee the chairs are possibly Irish in origin.

“A decent pair of early side chairs that mark the transition of the age of English walnut to the age of mahogany."
