A Large Pair Of 19th Century Portuguese Leather & Rosewood Chairs

Circa: 1760

Height: 55"

Width: 23"

Location: Hungerford

A fabulous looking pair of large Portuguese side chairs. Made from rosewood and with heavily embossed leather backs and seats, the chairs have bold cabriole legs with claw & ball feet. During the 18th century, Portuguese furniture often incorporated earlier English themes such as the claw & ball foot. They however preferred to use rosewood rather than walnut, as is the case with these chairs. The leather is in excellent order and the frames are tight.

“A pair of tall and very stylish side chairs with fabulous embossed leather backs and seats."
