An unusual and large early 20th century bowl  that is almost certainly of Japanese origin. The bowl has decorative gold leaf that has been applied to the surface and then varnished over. It is in good condition and very striking in appearance.

"A very decorative and attractive bowl of large size that can be functional or purely decorative."
