Dating from the 19th century, this bronze is of Victor de Riqueti, who was the Marque de Mirabeau (1715-1789). After an early career in the French army, he became interested in political writing and was known during the mid 18th century as a leading author on the political economy. This signed and very decorative bronze is of a good size and would have been bought by a young noble whilst on his “Grand Tour”.
