A Large 19th Century Country House “Duke” Mirror

Circa: 1890

Height: 58"

Width: 38"

Period: 19th Century

Location: Hungerford

Of large size, the mirror retains the original gilt decoration and has a London makers label to the back. It has a carved Dukes crown on cushion at the top meaning almost certainly that the mirror was commissioned by a Duke. With the unusual rope moulding, its likely that the Duke would have had a strong Naval association, perhaps being a very senior Naval officer.

“An unusual and large country house oval mirror with the makers label to the back."
