A 19th century Chinese export lacquer bracket shelf. The bracket retains the original decoration and is designed so that the shelves fold flat. It was made this way so that it could be shipped from China more easily and with less risk of damage to the shelves. It is ideal to display small delicate items such as scent bottles, miniatures, porcelain etc .
