A fine quality, 19th century French Grand Tour bronze statue. It is after the antique “Venus di Milo” and by the Bardedienne Foundry. The bronze is a well cast bronze reduction of the iconic ancient Greek marble sculpture of Venus that is now housed in the Louvre Museum, Paris. It bears the signature of the Ferdinand Bardedienne Foundry in Paris as well as the seal mark of Achille Collas, whose invention of the mechanical pantograph reduction device led to the accurate production of this type of bronze. It is an excellent consistent dark brown patination.
