A late 17th century walnut bureau bookcase. Dating from the Wiilliam & Mary period, the bookcase is veneered in well figured walnut with the top part having an arched mirror plate door. The base has double herringbone inlay to the fall and a waist moulding which was a feature of the William & Mary period. The bureau’s interior is well fitted and all the graduating base drawers are also herringbone inlaid and the sides are well figured. The colour and quality of the bookcase is very good. Often these narrow bookcases can look awkward in proportion but this one is very well balanced.

"A really decent example of a late 17th century narrow walnut bureau bookcase that is well proportioned and stands very well".
