Dating from the early/mid 20th century, this style of hanging was made in France circa 1930/40’s. Rather than being made on a hand loom, as were the period examples, they were machine made but are still of very good quality. This example is in good condition and retains the original colours and border. An interesting feature with this example is the fact that the very top part has been made separately and joined. Due to the fact that everything runs through with the trees, it is my opinion it was originally made this way.
