Edward Benjamin Herberte was an English sporting and animal painter from the last half of the 19th century. His main work was painting equestrian scenes such as fox hunting and point to points as well as rural village views. This work is somewhat similar in style and composition to that of John Frederick Herring Sr, a famous English sporting painter. The painting is in excellent condition and is an oil on canvas which has been laid down onto a panel of wood. It is monogrammed E.H, and dates from the 1880s. The piece is framed in an English giltwood sporting style frame.

“An atmospheric oil painting showing a huntsman with his hounds and two mounts."
